If you have experienced constipation or experience it every now and then, you can attest to how painful and uncomfortable this condition can be and that you are probably one of those who want to grab any available remedies for constipation that can help you get rid of constipation. If you have poor diet, do not exercise often, do not drink enough water, do not eat enough fiber, or are suffering from some other illnesses related to constipation, then you must be one of those looking for remedies for constipation. You will be relieved to find out that this article has what you are looking for.

Dehydration is one of the main causes of constipation; thus, drinking at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily can help improve the condition. It is also a good idea to avoid drinking caffeinated beverages since caffeine promotes dehydration and can serve as diuretics. If you drink them often, try doing so in moderation to prevent constipation.

Having a healthy diet is one of the best ways to prevent constipation. A fiber-rich diet is one of the best remedies for constipation. It is a good idea to have a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, beans, and nuts to have regular bowel movement. Apple and guava are good remedies for constipation but guava seeds must not be removed to ensure full effect. Starchy foods are a big no for constipated people since this can escalate the problem.

The following remedies for constipation also help:

1. Laxatives – this is one of the most common remedies for constipation as a person suffering from constipation would think of laxatives first before anything else. Laxatives can be bought from a drugstore of pharmacy as over-the-counter products. If you don’t have any idea on what laxative to buy, you can always ask your doctor about it.

2. Honey and lemon mixture – Mix one two tablespoons of lemon juice and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of warm water. This mixture is considered as one of the best remedies for constipation. Drinking this mixture once a day and once a night can help eliminate the symptoms of constipation.

3. Mixture of Olive oil and Orange juice – A glass half-filled with olive oil and half-filled with orange juice can make your bowel movement regular.

4. Licorice – this is known to have laxative qualities. Eating real licorice can help relieve your infrequent bowel movement.

5. Grapes – this is great for relieving the pain and discomfort caused by irregular bowel movement.

6. Castor Oil and Honey Mixture – honey, considered as among the best remedies for constipation, may be mixed with castor oil for full anti-constipation effect.

7. Carrot juice, Tomato juice, and Sauerkraut juice – a mixture of these three may not taste good but it works well making it one of the best remedies for constipation.

It’s not hard to find remedies for constipation. However, while these things are readily available not only from the local drugstore or pharmacy but also in your home, nothing could still be better than the most natural way of relieving the pain and discomfort caused by constipation and that is to have a proper diet, drinking enough water, and regular workout.

Oh Hemorrhoids! They hurt. They itch. They make you uncomfortable. They can take over your life. Hemorrhoids can interfere with your enjoyment of life, as they can be an ever-present nuisance.

Hemorrhoids are caused from veins on your rectum and anus. These veins start swelling and becoming inflamed. This occurs for a number of reasons. Constipation is one of the leading causes. The veins begin to swell, when you are constipated and push too hard to move your bowels.

Hemorrhoids can be classified into four different categories, ranging from first degree to fourth degree. First degree are the ones that are the least severe. Fourth is the most severe. Bleeding is a possibility with all types, but can become progressively worse at each level.

Home remedies can fix these much of the time, Surgery might be needed.

1) Milligan-Morgan Technique – This surgery excises the hemorrhoids. Three pear-shaped incisions remain open and are separated by bridges of skin and mucus. This hemorrhoid surgery is the most common.

2) Ferguson Technique – The incision is partially or totally closed in this surgery. There is a lot of pain with this surgery. A three day hospital stay is required.

3) PPH Procedure – This method is used to reduce prolapsed hemorrhoidal tissue by utilizing a circular stapling devise to excise a band of the prolapsed anal mucosa membrane. There is less pain after this surgery than other surgeries.

4) The Harmonic Scalpel – This is a unique form of energy that, on contact, cuts and coagulates hemorrhoidal tissue, minimizing lateral thermal tissue damage. This is utilized in instances of major hemorrhoids that might bleed during an operation.

5) Laser Surgery – Utilizing a laser beam, the hemorrhoid is removed or vaporized. The laser lets the doctor be more accurate and precise. There is very little pain with this surgery. There is a faster healing process.

(6) Atomization – In this procedure, hemorrhoids are vaporized and vanish. This can be accomplished without causing a lot of bleeding. You will get better results afterwards with this surgery.

If home remedies are not effective or cannot be used on your hemorrhoids, various surgical techniques are available to provide relief. There are several reasons why your doctor might suggest surgery. Surgery may be suggested if the hemorrhoids continually recur, with little relief. You might need surgery if you keep bleeding. A prolapsed hemorrhoid will probably require surgery. Whenever blood clots are present with hemorrhoids, an operation is necessary.

Prior to surgery, doctors will attempt other methods. Placing rubber bands around the hemorrhoids is effective at times. Injections are also an option. In this procedure, an injection of drugs is administered into the hemorrhoidal tissue in an attempt to reduce the size.

Do not leave hemorrhoids untreated. Use whatever treatment you need. You must not delay. Ensure that you are trying the best treatment for your condition.

Do you want to try natural colon cleansing? Perhaps you’ve heard about its ability as a constipation treatment, or maybe you just want something to help you lose several pounds. Either way, you will need to learn something about it before you try it.

Like what its name suggests, natural colon cleansing is all about… well, cleaning up your colon. And although it may involve certain supplements, the treatment is largely based around colon itself. Like most parts of the human body, the colon has the unique ability to cleanse itself and to make sure that it is free of accumulated wastes.

Unfortunately, given our average diet, it is almost impossible for the colon to do this on a consistent level. The continuous ingestion of fatty and oily foods tends to strain the colon’s ability to keep its passages clean, which most of time leads to constipation and indigestion.

In order to correct this problem, natural colon cleansing diets are designed to make sure that the colon will have the opportunity to cleanse itself of wastes. This process usually involves dieting, although supplements and fiber rich foods like whole wheat grain may also be involved later on in the process.

Foods which are easily digested are the focus of the diet, including several fiber rich foods. This diet will give the body the time it requires to flush out accumulated wastes, thus becoming clean and healthy again.

Provided you did it properly, natural colon cleansing can provide your body with several benefits. It can for example act as constipation treatment. In addition to that, natural colon cleansing can also help improve digestion, weight loss and disease prevention. The process may be repeated every few months or so in order to detoxify the body as well as restore its digestive well being.

One word of caution however – try not to overdo your colon cleansing diet. Starving yourself for the sake of a clean colon is never a good idea. Your colon is there to do most of the work. All you have to do is to help it out to the best of your capabilities. On the other hand, if you were to force your body beyond its capacity, you could very well end up very ill.

And finally, you should perform natural colon cleansing for the correct reasons. Even though the diet can benefit your body in a number of ways, one should also remember that it will never be a good substitute for a real weight loss program. Natural colon cleansing is about colon cleansing, and should be used accordingly.

Constipation, irregular or infrequent bowel movement is such a painful and uncomfortable condition, and it’s not surprising to see a lot of people heading to the pharmacy to look for available remedies for constipation. Constipation is said to be caused by poor eating habits, lack of exercise, not drinking enough water or fluids, not consuming enough fiber, or even other illnesses or health conditions. Fortunately, remedies for constipation are available for those who want to get rid of this painful and uncomfortable condition.

Since one of the leading causes of constipation is dehydration, you should make it a habit to drink at least 8 glasses of water, and the more the better. You should also stay away from caffeine since it acts as a diuretic and it causes dehydration. Those who love caffeinated beverages should drink them in moderation.

Other remedies for constipation include the following:

1. Laxatives – laxatives are always present in all remedies for constipation as it is often the very first resort that a person suffering from constipation tries. You can buy laxatives as over-the-counter products from your local pharmacy or drugstore. If you don’t know which laxative is right for you, make sure to visit your physician first and he/she will surely prescribe a good laxative that will help you deal with your condition.

2. Honey and lemon mixture – Mix one two tablespoons of lemon juice and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of warm water. This mixture is considered as one of the best remedies for constipation. Drinking this mixture once a day and once a night can help eliminate the symptoms of constipation.

3. Olive oil and Orange juice – fill a glass with half orange juice and half olive oil to make your plumbing running very smoothly.

4. Licorice – known for its laxative qualities, daily consumption of licorice helps in relieving the pain and discomfort caused by constipation.

5. Grapes – this is great for relieving the pain and discomfort caused by irregular bowel movement.

6. Honey and Castor Oil – honey is always present in the list of remedies for constipation. Aside from eating it by itself or with lemon, you can also add a teaspoon of castor oil to get rid of your constipation problems.

7. Carrot juice, Tomato juice, and Sauerkraut juice – a mixture of these three may not taste good but it works well making it one of the best remedies for constipation.

Conclusion – some useful remedies for constipation. However, you should remember that the most important thing to get rid of constipation is still having proper diet, drinking water often, and exercising on a regular basis.

The herbal laxative senna has been in use for many centuries according to recorded history, and perhaps for thousands of years of unrecorded history. Originating temperate parts of the globe, it has been brewed in tea form to treat chronic constipation. Nowadays senna continues to be used but instead needs not be in tea form. Instead it can be purchased and used in tablet or pill form to the same effect and perhaps better.

Is the herb senna an effective anti-constipation agent? Because it cannot be patented as a therapy, no drug companies have stepped forward to conduct a clinical trial. Nor do they need to as the FDA permits its use as an herbal or natural agent. Therefore, the question as to its efficacy can only be answered by anecdote and limited scientific studies (that are not clinical trials).

According to all the anecdotes and all the scientific studies, it does seem that senna is very useful as constipation remedies. What is the key to senna’s activity? It turns out that there is a class of chemical compounds called sennosides which specifically cause increased movement in the intestinal tract. These compounds are the reason why many companies have developed tablet formulations without all the other compounds found in the tea form.

But there are other good options for people interested in natural constipation remedies. One of these which even a physician may put forth is the increase of dietary fiber. It takes the tack of eating a lot of every day foods that are fiber-rich or taking fiber supplements.

There are patients who are unhappy that the attention required in homing in on good fiber foods is too much. One frequently used alternative is to look into the class of supplements with high fiber. Originally derived from particular plant matter like the plantago, these nutritional agents are offered in finely crushed powdered blends and can be dissolved with water to reconstitute a quaffable solution. People who undergo this kind of treatment may require a little more than ten to fourteen days until the benefits are fully felt.

There exists number of laxatives used by those with constipation. Archetypal representatives of these compounds are the osmotic laxatives that primarily cause changes in water uptake, and stimulant laxatives that seem to have an effect on gut muscles. Osmotic laxatives have the effect of more water in the gut which from medical research seems to assist in natural intestinal contractions.

There is a reason why constipation remedies are amongst the most popular over-the-counter (OTC) medications. It has been estimated that approximately 10-30% of the U.S. population suffers from this ailment, and most people do not see a physician. Those who do receive some help, but given that there is disagreement even among physicians as to what constitutes constipation, the efficacy of medical advice varies. Even effectiveness of medication is nonuniform from patient to patient.

The ROME foundation was set up to manage information and diagnoses related to gastrointestinal problems. One of the things the foundation tried to do is outline a specific set of criteria which defined idiopathic and chronic constipation. “Idiopathic” means without known cause. It is the main reason why the ROME criteria was formulated: idiopathic diseases are hard to define. Some of the sample criteria for constipation include hard or small feces, and less than one bowel movement every three days.

Even if a patient is diagnosed properly, there are no standard constipation treatments. This is because most constipation is of unknown origin. Diseases without known origin are known as “idiopathic”, and can be treated only in a general way which may not target the underlying problem. People with idiopathic constipation constitute about 70% of all patients.

For people who show interest in natural methods of constipation relief, there exists a number of choices. A first tactic that even a primary care doctor may suggest is the increase of dietary fiber. This solution can be implemented by consuming foods with high fiber. One such food is the prune, which is a dried plum.

There are patients who complain that the effort needed in picking out good fiber foods is too much. One solution to this problem is to consider supplements with psyllium. These are powders that are mixed with water to make convenient drinks. As is common with diet therapies, it may take about half a month before the constipated subject and his or her physician have enough data to assess efficacy.

There exists many laxatives in use by patients with constipation. Archetypal examples of classes of these laxatives are the osmotic laxatives which effect modulation in water uptake, and stimulant laxatives which appear to have an effect on gut smooth muscle. A favored laxative labeled Macrogol is an osmotic agent, as well as magnesium-containing agents like magnesium citrate or milk of magnesia.

Repeated constipation is a problem faced by some 15-30% of the general population in the U.S. More than half experience a particular form known as idiopathic constipation. Despite the technical sound of the name, it actually means “that without known cause”. Therefore, most people have constipation which cannot be traced to cause, due largely to our lack of understanding of complex physiology of the gastrointestinal tract.

Such lack of understanding has lead to a profusion of treatments, many of which are reputable (for example bulk and osmotic laxatives) but also many of which have no basis in fact. In addition to these nontrustworthy therapies there are also a number of myths with respect to the causes of constipation. These myths connect mundane, daily activities to subsequent constipation.

Some people claim that exercise and even the action of walking helps massage the muscles that line the intestinal tract, which facilitates the movement of food and stomach matter. In fact, walking is occasionally advocated as a way of relieving constipation. However, a controlled study conducted by Meshinpour et al at the University of California, Irvine, found that there was no benefit from exercise for a small group of people who suffered from idiopathic constipation. The results are limited in the sense that the mandated exercise was one hour per day, but most people do not exercise more than an hour a day so the findings apply broadly to the population.

A second myth is that adding more fiber to the diet can cure constipation. The myth sounds quite reasonable as fiber is one of the major nutrients promoted by the FDA. Unfortunately, a review by researchers Fox-Orenstein and co-workers demonstrated that fiber therapy worked in about a third of all people. While normal amounts of fiber are necessary, for the large part constipation sufferers already get that amount and have constipation for other reasons.

There is also a myth that drinking more water helps “bulk” up stool which reduces constipation. But this is also revealed to be a myth by a recent physician review (Muller-Lissner et al) that showed numerous studies that drinking the 8 or more recommended glasses of water each day had little to no impact on constipation. These physicians did point out that truly dehydrated people may suffer from constipation, but for most of us water is not the reason for our elimination problems.

Lastly, the reader may recall that there are many advertisements these days touting colonic cleansers as the cure-all for constipation. Colonic cleansers are claimed to be remedies for toxin build-up, and general poor health. But almost every physician will tell their patients to take these claims with a grain of salt. Even the American Cancer Society has put out information warning people not to try these products.

Fortunately, of the above myths, most are harmless at worst. Drinking water, exercising and eating fiber are activities that promote general health even though they may not impact constipation directly.
